Relive Your Parents' Childhood: Fun Family Day Ideas

IMG_6161.jpg

This fun activity is all about LIVING OUT YOUR PARENTS CHILDHOOD! Remember, these activities are meant to add fun and connection, not stress. Pick and choose to adapt to your family and capacity.

The only pre-planning was getting my childhood photos from our crawlspace the night before and setting them on the coffee table. Easy Peasy. When the girls woke up we began looking through the photos and talking about old memories. I shared many stories based on the memories sparked from the photos.

There were no guidelines, only imagination. We loved surprising each other with our own personalized 80’s looks. As you can see my girls love dressing up. If that’s not your kids thing, that’s cool, but don’t be surprised to see them get into it if they see you doing it first.

Fun 80’s Activities (This is my childhood, adjust with your memories.)

  • Put a prize in the cereal box

  • Use the word “like” at least 5 x’s in every sentence

  • Build Lego

  • Make sticker books

  • Wear bright colours

  • Bake a cake with money wrapped in wax paper like grandma used to do

  • Rollerblade and pretend its a roller rink

  • Eat Kraft Dinner and toast for lunch while watching Flinstones

  • Listen to Baby, Baby on repeat, or any 80’s music

  • Climb a tree

Have fun & peace out!!
